In the pristine nature of Gapyeong County, we capture the essence of light in our whiskey.
LIGHTHILL is a K-Single Malt Whiskey produced at the "Distillery of Light" located in Gapyeong County, South Korea.
The name LIGHTHILL originates from the hills of Gapyeong. The name "Bitgogae" has two meanings: one refers to a steep hill, and the other comes from the beautiful light seen there. The clear water flowing down the steep hills, the mountain and river breezes, and the varying temperatures and humidity with the seasons converge at the distillery to create the unique whiskey of LIGHTHILL. Over time, the oak barrels impart a golden glow to the whiskey, reflecting the light of the hills, enhancing its flavor, color, and aroma.
The Distillery of Light is the largest distillery in South Korea, capable of producing up to 1.8 million bottles of 700ml whiskey. The beauty of light, its speed, and the promise of a bright future align with the magical whiskey-making process, faster maturation compared to other continents, and the vision of becoming GLOBAL NO.1.
Sangjae Park, CEO of LIGHTHILL, nurtured a passion for launching K-whiskey after winning the NHC (National Homebrew Competition), the world's largest beer brewing competition, in 2017 and studying major distilleries. His unique vision even impressed Scottish distillery masters, leading them to join him, combining his brewing techniques with their artisanal knowledge to create world-class whiskey at LIGHTHILL.
The highly skilled LIGHTHILL R&D team and Scottish distillery masters pursue a blend of tradition and new technology. LIGHTHILL is set to become a household name in K-Whiskey, following in the footsteps of globally recognized K-Culture and K-Food.
